BodyWork Associates Integrative massage therapy for general relaxation and renewal is one of our most common services. Integrative massage uses a combination of strokes with lotion and generally covers the whole body. Our integrative massage has elements of many fine approaches or techniques, both Western (Swedish massage) and Eastern (acupressure). When you are tired and stressed out, this is the perfect choice for revitalization and renewal. This eclectic technique has these common components:
Gliding strokes- We have all seen these strokes on various video scenes. Lotion or oil is used to glide over the body in long superficial glides for warming up or short deep glides to increase circulation.

Kneading– Yes, sometimes it does look like kneading bread! These strokes increase local circulation and are meant to really concentrate on areas of restriction and holding.
Pressure point work– Some areas are real sources of trouble and need direct attention. We may hold these areas and you will feel the restriction ease as we hold the sensitive point.
Stretching– After muscles are worked it feels really great to have them gently stretched for you.
You can use for General Integrative Massage for many reasons. They include general stress reduction, overload at work or home, a compressed calendar, or generally too many demands with too little time. Our clients will tell you that massage seems to clear the tension from their body in a very effective manner. Often, there is much tension that you never even knew about until the therapist uncovers it during the session.
