DOUGLAS NELSON,

Doug is a Board Certified Massage Therapist and the president and founder of BWA, practicing massage therapy since 1977. Doug’s main focus is Precision Neuromuscular Therapy, which is the heart and soul of the BWA approach to pain. He is the founder of NMT MidWest, teaching Precision Neuromuscular Therapy both in the US and also abroad. He is a member of the International Association for the Study of Pain, and the American Massage Therapy Association. Doug is the author of three books, Table Lessons: Insights in the Practice of Massage Therapy (Volumes 1 and 2) and The Mystery of Pain. He is also a regular columnist for Massage and Bodywork magazine. Doug is the past president of the Massage Therapy Foundation, which advances the knowledge and practice of massage therapy by supporting scientific research in the field. Although he sees many clients a week, he sees a limited number of new clients and only sees people with very specific problems. His real expertise is in assessing the needs and origins of soft tissue problems. He was awarded the 2013 Educator of the Year and the 2015 Pioneer Award from the Illinois Chapter of the American Massage Therapy Association. He was also inducted into the massage therapy Hall of Fame in 2018. Most recently, Doug received the 2020 AMTA National President’s Award for service to the massage therapy profession.

Chloe graduated from Parkland College with an Associates Degree of Applied Science in Massage Therapy in 2018. As a Licensed Massage Therapist, Chloe’s dedication and compassionate nature, as well as her therapeutic and caring touch, make her a wonderful choice for those seeking relaxation. She is certified in Swedish massage for stress management and muscular discomfort, prenatal massage. and is currently studying Precision Neuromuscular Therapy to further tailor each session to her client’s individual needs. Chloe is available Wednesday through Sunday at our Windsor Road location.

TIFFANY ADAMS, LMT, PNMT
Tiffany is a graduate of the Academy of Massage Therapy in Jersey City, NJ and certified in Precision Neuromuscular Therapy. Since 2012, she has seen an array of clients ranging in ages from 9 months to 90 years, from pregnant women in their first, second or third trimester to athletes that are injured or preparing for sporting events. She is adept at massage therapy for pain management, relaxation, prenatal massage, and stress management. Tiffany works at the Windsor Road office Mondays and Tuesdays, and the Mettler Center Wednesdays through Fridays. ERIC BECKLEY, LMT, PNMT
Eric is a graduate of the massage therapy program at Parkland College in Champaign, IL. He is truly a problem-solver, and works with clients who have muscular pain, neural issues, and whiplash, with a special focus on lower extremity conditions such as plantar fasciitis. In addition to being a licensed massage therapist, Eric is also a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant. He is available at the Windsor location on Monday – Friday afternoon and evenings.

HANNAH CARMICHAEL,

Hannah graduated from Parkland College with a certificate in massage therapy in August 2013 and went back for her associates graduating in May 2017. She completed her PNMT certification in February 2021. Her technique is detail-oriented and focused on problem areas clients struggle with. Hannah works at Bodywork Associates Downtown office. (Fully vaccinated, including boosters. Masks are required.)

Jennifer has been with BodyWork Associates since graduating from the Soma Institute of Clinical Massage in Chicago in 2004. She has spent countless hours studying and practicing PNMT in order broaden her understanding of the body's function and form. Jennifer uses her experience and education to work collaboratively with her clients to help achieve relief from soft-tissue injury and chronic pain. She is passionate about customizing a session to meet the needs of her clients. Her compassionate touch and cheerful nature make her an excellent therapist.​ Jennifer is Board Certified by the National Certification Board of Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork and is a member of the American Massage Therapy Association. She serves as the clinic manager for BodyWork Associates.

KARI HUNG, LMT, C-MLD, CPC
Kari (Rauh) Hung began practicing as a massage therapist in 2011 during her studies at Cortiva Institute in Seattle WA. Upon graduating in 2012, she began her career working at a medical massage clinic (Mayo Therapy Associates) where she fell in love with working with clients (athletes and lifeletes) recovering from acute injuries and keen to get back to the workforce and on the court, field, and trail. A significant portion of her practice was focused on clients recovering from whiplash injuries sustained in motor vehicle collisions. She loves pre- and post-operative lymphatic drainage (including joint replacement surgeries, C-section and delivery), treatment for temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders, and whiplash. Kari is a survivor of her own traumatic brain injury (and its associated migraines) and has extra compassion and therapeutic insight for others walking through these journeys. She is a problem-solver and educator by nature and loves addressing the root causes of pain and empowering clients to prevent relapse.She has received further training in craniosacral therapy and precision neuromuscular therapy, and she is certified as a holistic manual lymphatic drainage practitioner.

MARCIA DEEM, LMT, PNMT
Marcia joined BodyWork Associates in 2003. She is a graduate of Healthy Lifestyle School of Massage Therapy in Muncie, IN. In 2007, Marcia earned certification in Precision Neuromuscular Therapy. Marcia likes to work by blending Neuromuscular Therapy and deep-tissue techniques such as myofascial release and trigger point therapy in her sessions. She can also see people for general relaxation and women for prenatal massage. She prides herself on the ability to care and listen to the needs of her clients. Marcia is at Windsor Road Monday-Thursday.

PEGGY CLER,

Peggy has been working with BWA since late 1998 and manages chair massage on location division. In table massage she specializes in back and neck issues and pregnancy massage. A graduate of Healthy Lifestyle School of Massage Therapy, she is a Nationally Certified massage therapist, and certified in Precision Neuromuscular Therapy. Peggy sees clients for massage therapy at the Windsor Road location on Wednesdays and Thursdays. She is also available to speak to groups on the benefits of massage and the effects of stress on the body and mind.

Blaise graduated from Parkland College with a certificate in massage therapy in 2021. He also earned a B.S. in animal science from the University of Illinois. Blaise is currently studying Precision Neuromuscular Therapy and enjoys working with people holistically to find and solve the root cause of their discomfort. He is available Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays at out Crossing Court location.

SHARA LAPOINTE, LMT
Shara (Share-ah) is a 2015 graduate of Parkland’s massage therapy program. She enjoys incorporating trigger point work and myofascial release into sessions, prenatal massage, and enjoys helping people with headache, scar tissue, and sinus relief. Shara studies Precision Neuromuscular Therapy to enrich her knowledge and to achieve the most efficient methods of supporting clients and their concerns. Each massage session meets the client where they are, which allows for the exploration of multiple avenues of treatment.
Shara brings with her an education in women’s and gender studies from New Mexico State University and is trained as an advocate for survivors of interpersonal violence through the Illinois Coalition Against Domestic Violence. She has experience and education in inclusive care for diverse communities, such as BIPOC, LGBTQIA2S+, and neurodiversity. She is a member of the GLMA, which is a national organization that strives to ensure health equity for the LGBTQIA2S+ community. Being a neurodivergent person, Shara is happy to provide a safe, sensory-friendly space for anyone who seeks it.

Jennifer brings with her the enthusiasm and love of her work as a seated massage specialist. She travels to many different companies and enjoys the ability to really brighten someone’s day with seated massage in the workplace. She is available to be seen at the Windsor Road office on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, doing work for general relaxation and prenatal massage.

KIMBERLY MOORE,

A graduate of DePaul University and the Chicago School of Massage Therapy, Kim maintained a successful private practice in south suburban Chicago for fifteen years before relocating to Champaign and joining the BWA staff in late 2010. Specializing in clinical and injury-specific work, Kim is Precision Neuromuscular Therapy Certified and is also trained in a number of modalities including Cranial-Sacral Therapy, Lymphatic Drainage, prenatal, Ortho-Bionomy, and TMJ pain and dysfunction. Kim is available Tuesday through Friday at our Windsor Road location.

JENNIFER THOMSON, LMT
Jen graduated from Parkland College's Massage Therapy Program in August of 2005. She became a licensed massage therapist and a member of the American Massage Therapy Association early in 2006. After working in the community for several years she finally found a home at BodyWork Associates in 2014. Jen is currently studying Precision Neuromuscular Therapy. Her detailed, meditative massage work will help you find relaxation and relief from pain; she also has training in prenatal massage therapy. Jennifer is available on a limited schedule at present.

MIKE PERRY, LMT, PNMT
Mike graduated from Healthy Lifestyle School of Massage in August of 2004. He has since worked at the St. Louis Institute for Rehabilitative and Sports massage in Creve Coeur, MO specializing in myofascial integration. During that time Mike worked with the Washington University Athletic Department for the Fall 2004 / Spring 2005 seasons. He's also worked with athletic trainers on a variety of acute and chronic conditions involving multiple men's and women's sports. Mike has also been an American Council on Exercise personal trainer since 2001.

Alma graduated from Everest College in Chicago, IL in 2009. She is a licensed and Board Certified massage therapist studying Precision Neuromuscular Therapy. She is very proficient with relaxation massage, therapeutic massage, and deep tissue as well as prenatal work. Alma personalizes each massage to fit the clients’ needs, therefore providing pain relief. She is bilingual (English/Spanish). She is available to be seen Tuesday and Thursday evenings at our Windsor Road location.

Sara is a licensed massage therapist and a graduate of Parkland College, class of 2008. She is actively pursuing certification in Precision Neuromuscular Therapy.
She draws from her years of experience to cater massage to each client and their individual needs. She addresses general pain due to day-to-day use of our bodies, injuries, pregnancy, postpartum, chronic pain/fatigue, as well as general relaxation. Sara will address your concerns with care, compassion and confidence. When she’s not at the clinic you’ll find her chasing her three kids around town, spoiling her two dogs, crocheting, or baking for her family. You can see Sara at either the Windsor Road clinic or the Springfield Ave location from Monday - Thursday.

DANIEL KAMBERELIS, LMT

Daniel graduated from The Soma Institute of Clinical Massage in Chicago, in 2020. Before joining BWA, Daniel ran his own private practice (including a year in Mexico). Daniel first came to BWA as a patient as a teenager when he sustained a sports injury. In only a few visits, he experienced the efficacy of massage therapy firsthand and hopes to help others with their injuries. In his practice, Daniel has worked with a wide range of pain and injury conditions, from high-level athletes, to people recovering from accidents or surgeries, to people experiencing pain from sedentary lifestyles. Daniel combines clinical massage and his expertise in yoga (RYT 2014) to provide his patients with individualized care. Daniel himself is an athlete who loves sports, especially cycling, basketball and soccer. Daniel has completed several multi-thousand-mile bicycle rides across Mexico and the United States.

A lifelong student of the body, Ashley graduated from Parkland College in 2023. Her approach to massage is detailed and therapeutic, and she is passionate about helping her clients feel better and move better in their bodies every day. For the past 7 years she has worked in the community as a personal trainer with a strong focus on restorative, corrective, and natural movement. She’s certified by the National Academy of Sports Medicine as a Corrective Exercise Specialist and has specific training in self-trigger point release, core and pelvic floor injuries (including SI joint issues and diastasis recti), and foot pain. She is actively studying PNMT and prenatal massage, and is thrilled to join the BodyWorks family.

Nathan Brown graduated Parkland with an Associates degree in massage therapy in 2021. His approach to massage is finding the root of the problem while providing a therapeutic and restorative relief. Nathan works closely with athletes encouraging recovery and sustainability. Coming from a medical family Nathan is always seeking out new ways to treat and improve clients' health and wellness.

Sara is a licensed massage therapist who graduated from Parkland College in 2023. She specializes in general relaxation massage and is excited to continue her education at BodyWork Associates, specifically beginning the study of Precision Neuromuscular Therapy. Sara has also returned to Parkland to pursue a psychology degree. She recognizes the importance of the mind-body connection and continues to study it in order to best serve her clients.
